Prepping your Hair for the Holidays

It’s that time of year again! School is back in session, and the holidays are starting to come upon us. It can be easy to get caught up with all of the different things going on between Halloween and New Years, but forgetting to prebook your appointments should not be something that we let slip! We’ve all been there, you get your hair done, love it, pay and say that you’ll wait and see when you need to come back in. The time comes and you are ready to shape up that haircut, or touch up those highlights so you pick up the phone to call the salon and find out that you can’t get in for two weeks! Panic sets in, what are you going to do? The times that are open don’t work with your schedule, and the time that you can come in has no availability. Of course we all want to make our color last as long as possible, but if we don’t plan ahead we can be setting ourselves up for a potential color disaster. Even low maintenance colors like balayage, air touch, and foilayage need a little upkeep to look their best. If your color itself isn’t in need of a complete refresh, a toner or gloss can make a world of difference for your overall look.

Hair for the Holidays

If you are someone who operates on a more regimented color or cut schedule, then making sure to prebook for the holiday season is extremely important. Even if you have a good deal of flexibility with your schedule, it doesn’t mean that your stylist will if you wait till the last minute to try to book something. The holiday season is busy for everyone, including stylists so it can make it impossible to squeeze someone in sometimes.

Prebook and Plan Ahead

Statistics show that on average by the third Thursday in October most Americans are starting to plan and think about their hair and other beauty appointment for the holiday season. By the first week in November, salons already see a drastic increase in weekly booking, doubling the amount of new appointments booked on average. You stylist may be able to try to work you in the best they can, but sometimes the only time that they can see you is weeks out from when you call in.

Of course this isn’t even taking into consideration if you are looking to do something leading up to a vacation, holiday party, or just to make sure that you are looking your best for that family photo! We always want you looking your best, not just because we take pride in our work, but because we know that everyone feels their best when they are looking their best as well! We want you to always feel that fresh hair feeling, so here is a little cheat sheet of how long you should be booking out for different services. As always, these aren’t set in stone but they are a pretty accurate guide to what the average booking schedule should be to keep your hair looking its best!
